According to Fiorelli -
“A deserted vicolo, without a pavement existed to the north of the insula, where there were two small houses (IX.3.23 and IX.3.24) on the remains of other ancient dwellings, destroyed perhaps by earthquake.
The first of these houses had a latrine next to the entrance corridor, and at the end of this an atrium, sheltered by two wings of roof, that left a space in the middle entirely uncovered, in which because water did not overflow into the part underneath the roof, a small podium was built.
To the left, perhaps was the kitchen attached to the latrine, and the triclinium was on the right, followed by a room without closure used as the tablinum, then a cubiculum and the garden, near to which was a storeroom containing the cistern. The last door led into the dormitory with capacity for a few beds.”

On the half-columns which decorated the doorposts (on left) were the remains of painted faux marble.
